Yes, it is true. If you look at the Stonybrook calendar, it says Wild Water Day is on July 15th. We are still looking forward to that highlight of summer. But today, we had a surprise for everyone on camp. Here at camp, we pride ourselves on our flexibility and the importance we place on our reaction to the needs and wants of our campers. So in response to the high temperatures we adjusted programming and brought in extra water rides.
Today, we brought in a special treat for our campers. We surprised everyone with water rides. They had the opportunity to slide down a wild rapids water slide and enjoy a wet obstacle course. Of course, we continued to apply sunscreen judiciously and made sure everyone drank plenty of water. Both campers and counselors had a blast enjoying all that Stonybrook has to offer.
Our decision to call this ‘Water Week’ has proven successful on many fronts. Everyone on camp has been kept cool, comfortable and entertained. On Tuesday, the campers had extra sunscreen applications. The groups stopped for frequent drinking water breaks. They all had an extra swim period. In addition, we strategically placed water sprinklers around camp so our campers could enjoy them as they moved from one activity to another. We don’t miss a beat when it comes to thinking of ways to keep the campers happy!
