Livingston's Stuff the Bus with Food Drive

LIVINGSTON'S STUFF THE BUS FOOD DRIVE

We love when our campers or camp families have news to share. Stacey Rubinstein, mom to Stonybrook campers, Andrew and Alexis, is helping organize Livingston’s first STUFF THE BUS food drive, and she asked us to help spread the word.

Livingston’s Family Festival Day at the Oval, which is a community-wide celebration and a key event during the town’s Youth Appreciation Week, is scheduled for Saturday, May 26th, from 10AM-3PM.  While the event is free of charge, this year organizers are asking the community to donate to the event’s food drive as suggested admission and help us STUFF THE BUS WITH FOOD. All collected food will be donated to Livingston’s C.H.O.W. (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse).

Kings Food Markets and ShopRite of Livingston have both gotten behind Youth Appreciation week by supporting this food drive.  They will both be hosting pre-event activities at their stores; Kings from 9:00-9:30am & ShopRite from 9:30-10am.   Our very own Jodi Rothfeld, camp photographer and creative behind Paintchips and Cupcakes, will be on site to photograph the community event (at Kings and Shoprite).

The bus will be arriving at Kings at 9:00am where the food market will kick-off the food drive and help “stuff the bus” with a generous donation of needed items.  Kings will provide refreshments for those attending as well as a discount coupon to be used towards a purchase at the Livingston store location.  Kings Food Markets will also make available an assortment of the most needed items, pre-bagged and ready to place on the bus for the convenience of those who wish to donate.

At 9:30am, the bus will arrive at ShopRite of Livingston, which will also make a generous donation of needed items. In addition, the store will donate $200 in gift cards.  Refreshments will be served, and shoppers are welcomed to “stuff the bus” with items they wish to donate.

The bus will then head to the Oval for Family Festival Day where it will be parked till 3pm and donations will be accepted throughout the day.  Just look for the big yellow school bus!

The non-perishable items requested for collection are: canned tuna, peanut butter, napkins, toilet tissue, paper towels, breakfast cereal, condiments, canned beans, dried beans, pasta, white or brown rice, pasta sauces, macaroni & cheese, powdered milk, canned fruit, canned vegetables, baby food and jelly & jam. Only new, unopened items will be collected.  Please make sure items are not expired and healthy items are appreciated.

If you are available, we welcome you to stop by one of the three locations on Saturday and help STUFF THE BUS WITH FOOD.   This is the first of many STUFF THE BUS food drives that will be held in Livingston and we will be sure to send you details as they are released.
