Steve Sussman joins Teen Xtreme

Steve Sussman, a very familiar face at camp, is flying high.  But not on the challenge course this summer…we are thrilled to announce that Steve is directing Teen Xtreme for the 2011 season. He has been associated with camp for the past twelve summers and two of Steve’s four children still attend Stonybrook Day Camp.  He has worked the last three summers as a ropes specialist at our amazing challenge course. Recognized for his leadership abilities, Steve is very excited to be taking on a new role at camp.

Steve’s background includes sports, helping others and community building…perfect for camp! After graduating from Arizona State University with a BA in Broadcasting, Steve worked in TV Sports covering Phoenix Suns basketball games and Arizona Cardinal football games. After moving to NJ and spending many years in sales, he is currently the Executive Director for two franchise offices of HomeInstead Senior Care, the world's largest and most trusted non-medical home care company for seniors. Active in the community, he is currently Vice President of his temple, Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Morris County, and he will be accepting the role of President in June 2011.
Steve resides in Ledgewood with his wife and kids. He is looking forward to bringing his enthusiasm for camp to Stonybrook’s teen program and he is currently busy finalizing a fantastic travel itinerary.  And when Teen Xtreme is at camp, you’ll probably find Steve up on that challenge course!

New Dance Program!

Program offerings are once again expanding at Stonybrook Day Camp!  We are excited to announce that Diana Patino will be joining Stonybrook Day Camp’s staff as our dance instructor.

At 24 years old, Diana has danced since she was a little girl in Colombia.  Experienced in a range of dance rhythms, Diana was a member of a professional dance troupe that performed throughout Colombia at carnivals and shows.   Salsa, merenge, regatone (mix of hip hop and rega) and samba are just a few of the dance rhythms that Diana plans to teach as she introduces campers to one rhythm per week.   She is very excited to work with our campers this summer and brings with her over 8 years of experience working with children.

There is not doubt in our mind that campers will have a lot of fun working with Diana as they get down and experience rhythms from around the world!  Even our most experienced ballerinas, tap dancers and hip hop artists will learn about dance in a whole new way.  We look forward to seeing smiles and moves!
